If you smoke cigarettes, you might find it a bit harder to find a place to smoke in East Lansing.

According to the Lansing State Journal, the East Lansing City Council "approved a smoking ban prohibiting the use of tobacco in city parks, plazas and recreational facilities." In addition to city parks, plazas, and recreational facilities, smoking is also banned at any parking lot being used for a community event; like the East Lansing Art Fair, for instance. The ban does not include e-cigs or chewing tobacco though.

The ban was approved unanimously just a couple nights ago, after a public hearing. And if you're found in violation of this new ordinance, you could get served with a $100 fine, for first time offenders... a second offense could get you a $500 fine! Get more details HERE
