Buzz Aldrin was the second man to step on the moon. Since that night in 1969, Buzz has done a lot. He's been an author, been featured on a postal stamp, played himself in one of the Transformer movies, got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and (didja know this?) recorded a rap song. 

And, he apparently has acquired a taste for "bling".

But, more importantly, according to the BBC, he wants to help us get to Mars. And the truth is, he's got the goods. He's got a Doctorate in Astronautics from M.I.T.. His thesis was about spacecraft rendezvousing in orbit. The Mars plan he's pushing involves using some of that science, with a big mothership being used to shuttle "taxi-style" spacecraft from earth to Mars' largest moon Phobos, which we'll use as a base to colonize - not just visit - Mars.

Will he be going? Nope. He says, "I'm more valuable back here".
