According to the Lansing State Journal, you will soon have a chance to buy a piece (or pieces) of Michigan's Capitol dome. The dome is currently undergoing a $6.5 million restoration and the Michigan State Capitol Commission has decided to sell off parts of the old dome to the public.

The commission will be selling about 100 modillions, which are the decorative sandstone blocks and brackets from the dome. They're from the original 19th century construction of the Capitol dome. The commission says about 50 modillions will be available for $100 in a lottery, while 50 more will be auctioned off with a $100 minimum bid. Money raised from the modillions will go into the commission's general fund for Capitol maintenance. You'll need to hold on to your bidder paddle for a little while, though, because officials say that a date and method for sale has yet to be finalized.
