The National Weather has issued a Wind Chill Warning for Mid-Michigan. The warning is in effect from 4pm on Tuesday afternoon through 1pm on Thursday afternoon. Dangerously cold wind chills are expected for our area for the next couple of days. The National Weather Service says that wind chills as low as 40 BELOW ZERO are expected from late tonight through Thursday morning.

Frostbite is possible within 15 minutes. Be sure to cover your face, fingers and ears. The National Weather Service says that a Wind Chill Warning means the combination of very cold air and the wind will create dangerously low wind chill values. Besides frostbite, officials say that hypothermia or death are possible if precautions aren't taken.

Warming centers are open and welcome to the public. Some of the warming centers in the Lansing area include the Allen Neighborhood Center, Capital Area Salvation Army, Cristo Rey Community Center, the Lansing Mall, the Meridian Mall and the Tri-County Office On Aging.
