It's no secret that I've been a fan of "Top Gun" since the day I saw it in 1986. I mean, GOOD LORD, after I saw it, I was in the Navy recruiter's office, closerthanthis to signing up and leaving my cushy radio job. Only my poor eyesight and an aversion to push-ups prevented it. And, as you may, or may not know, the original script for "Top Gun" was written by the late Jim Cash and Jack Epps Jr - both from Michigan State. A sequel has been rumored for a long time - and now it looks like it's going to happen.

"Top Gun 2" will supposedly be all about human pilots, in fighter aircraft, demonstrating why they're better than drone aircraft being flown, remotely, by guys in Lazy Boys, in offices with plants and vending machines (my description, not theirs).

And yes, Tom Cruise will be back. At this point Tom is 52 years old. Which means "Maverick" should probably be a rear admiral by now. We'll see how that all works out. Here's the story from the Hollywood Reporter.

I am a skeptic. Tread lightly, Hollywood. I'll be watching.

(They're shaking, I'm sure.)
