This is the story from wired.com - click HERE - of how America ALMOST got into the "HIPPO RANCHING" business. I kid you not.

It's also the story of Frederick Russell Burnham. The man who was not only the inspiration for the Boy Scouts of America, but the inspiration for the "Raiders Of The Lost Ark" character Indiana Jones! You have to get past the hippo ranching story to get to the profile of Frederick, but it's worth it. It includes my most recent favorite quote:

                                      "We’ll kill that snake when I finish the story.”
