According to WLNS-TV, Starbucks has said it will be getting rid of plastic straws at it's worldwide locations by the year 2020, and a Michigan State University graduate is a part of the solution that will help the coffee giant achieve it's goal.

Emily Alexander who is from Okemos, is a member of the Class of 2011 at State and is the mind behind the new more eco-friendly coffee lid that Starbucks will be using to replace the straws. Alexander, who works in Research and Development at Starbucks attended the MSU School of Packaging.

The new design will be better for the environment because it will be much easier to recycle.
