A Cool Michigan “Up North” Christmas Tradition
If you take a drive up north on M-22 in December, take a look out over Big Glen Lake for the Christmas tree in the boat. You should be able to see it when you get between Big Glen and Little Glen Lake.
This is the fifth year that Frank and Tracy Siepker have decorated a tree and put it in a rowboat on the lake. According to MLive.com: This year's version has double the LED lights from last year and a guy-wire system to help keep it upright. Then there's the solar panels, the timers, and the battery system housed in weather-proof boxes.
And the 14-foot boat has a history, "It was the first boat I got as a kid, the boat I grew up in," says Frank.
Might be worth a trip up.
