Daron Bryden is 12 years old. He's currently in the 6th grade in Enfield, Connecticut. He's 5'4" and 105 pounds and plays quarterback. And according to bleacher report, he's being tracked as a college football recruit by Rivals.com - seriously. Here's his page on Rivals.com.

One of the reasons he's being tracked is that he (and at least one other 6th grader) performed well at a "showcase" for sixth, seventh and eighth graders football players in Boston. (Who knew?) One of the other reasons is that Daron's dad is 6'7" and coaches are hoping Daron will get that tall, too. Daron already has personal quarterback coaches and is talking to college coaches about attending their summer football camps, where the coaches evaluate talent. (Umm - 6'7"? MSU coaching staff? Did you read that?)

Daron's dad, Craig, brings up a good point - starting athletes young and heavily coaching them is done all the time in gymnastics and tennis. Why not football?
